Situated in Junagadh, India, the Shree Manas Bharti Vidhya Bhavan school is a non-profit organisation which teaches students from disadvantaged backgrounds, aged between 5 and 13 years.

Children have a right to basic facilities such as toilets, safe drinking water, clean surroundings and information on hygiene. Safe water and sanitation facilities in schools are a first step towards a healthy physical learning environment benefiting both learning and health. By changing childrens behavior today, future generations can be more prepared to care for their families and communities health and environment.

When the SkyBlu team visited Shree Manas Bharti Vidhya Bhavan school in Junagadh earlier this year, we were deeply moved and saw an urgent need to improve the very basic toilet facilities as well as clean drinking water stations which are currently rusty and not in adequate working condition. This environment did not encourage the students to keep even basic levels of safe hygiene and many were reluctant to use the facilities at all.

SkyBlu will not only help get clean drinking water and working toilets into school, but also builds awareness on just how important water and sanitation are. If these conditions are created, the children can come to school, enjoy learning, learn better and take these practices on sanitation and hygiene back to their households.
