Situated in Ghana‘s Sefwi Wiawso District, the John Bitar School is a non-profit organisation under the management and care of the John Bitar Company Limited.
Owing to its social responsibilities as well as its deep-rooted and established relationship with Ghana, the company‘s main objective has always been to give the African children within the town the chance and the means to gain admission into the Ghanaian Secondary School system.
Although the school is very proud of its academic and sports achievements, it requires international support in order to maintain its commitments to the 560 attending students, aged between 4 and 16 years. With your support we can ensure that the children are equipped with all they need to further their education, enjoy the school routine and reach their goals for the future.
The children at the John Bitar School very much enjoy and succeed in their sports and extra-curricular ambitions. The school has a large outdoor play area which the John Bitar Company are very keen to make the most of.
They have the space to play a variety of sports yet often lack the necessary amenities to do so, such as volleyballs or footballs and the relevant netting. Better still, it would mean the world to these children to own a jersey of some sort to feel part of a team they can be proud of.
Writing pads, pencils, sharpeners, rulers and erasers are the obvious but essential tools required to facilitate any child‘s first forays into organised learning and are always in need in under-developed countries such as Ghana.
Such simple items we often take for granted are unaffordable for many underprivileged families. Even coloured pencils are an eye-catching and marvellous wonder to many children in these remote areas of Ghana.
The children attending the John Bitar School are very keen to improve their English skills, and also enjoy reading novels depicting different cultures. Any well-written, suitable book, regardless of genre or subject matter, that a child can learn from and whose content they can appreciate and enjoy would go a long way.
