Uniforms

All too often, the expense of a uniform is out of reach for many families and so another basic item becomes yet another potential barrier. A child cannot attend school in the areas we work in without a uniform, yet those who do possess one often have to wear a uniform which is in very poor condition. This ultimately affects the child‘s confidence and self-esteem.

Therefore, it would make a considerable difference if these children were to own a decent, neat and comfortably-fitted uniform.

Stationery

Pencil cases with items such as pens, pencils and rulers: With few supplies at hand, the essential items the school currently do possess often have to be used sparingly. Students are usually expected to share stationery with siblings or classmates. Providing children with the amenities they need to maintain their studies and interests boosts confidence and encourages attendance and performance. This in turn leads to more positive academic results and helps a child‘s morale so that they remain at school and thrive.

School Bags

Backpacks will help the students to carry their school supplies and keep their books organised. Typically, these types of items are considered a luxury and not provided to the children, so instead they carry their books in their hands to and from school.

Receiving a "backpack" is so exciting and thrilling for these children and is probably one of the very few items they will be able to call "their own".
